bitFlyer Exchange Adds More Currencies

The bitFlyer crypto exchange has added a set of new digital currencies to its options. This is one of the long-established exchanges on the market. They operate from a base in Japan and are now expanding their number of coins for European and North American markets.

The new coins have been added with immediate effect. This will increase their options to eight currencies in Europe and five in the US.

What Coins Are to Be Added?

The currencies to be added to bitFlyer are Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum Classic (ETC), Litecoin (LTC), Lisk (LSK) and MonaCoin (MONA).

These alternative coins have been added to make their selection wider for European and North American users. In Europe, all of the currencies mentioned above will be made available. US users will be able to buy and sell BCH, ETC and LTC from the list.

Andy Bryant is the COO of bitFlyer. He is quoted as saying that there are going to give their customers “instant access to some of the largest and most exciting altcoins in the world”. Bryant also pointed out that this is a step towards standardizing their global offerings.

In the past, these new currencies could only be accessed by the exchange’s customers in Japan. In fact, the European version of their exchange was launched with only Bitcoin (BTC). Earlier this year, they added on Ethereum (ETH) as well. It isn’t clear whether we can expect more altcoins to be added in the future.

This exchange was recently reported by Bitwise to be a ‘Real-10’ crypto firm. The information came in a report prepared for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. These top 10 exchanges are responsible for 5% of the overall market’s trading volumes. It is also stated in the report that they report true trading figures, unlike some other exchanges.

Another interesting fact about bitFlyer is that they offer a loyalty program for Bitcoin users in Japan. They also joined forces with a Japanese real estate company, to allow transactions to be carried out using Bitcoin.

bitFlyer expanded into the US at the end of 2017, and into Europe a few months later. This means that it is currently the only exchange to be licensed to operate in Europe, the US and Japan.

As it becomes easier to buy and sell a range of cryptocurrencies, interest in the subject will continue to grow. Therefore, this latest piece of news is another boost for the market.
