It is expected that there will be a number of celebrity cryptocurrency launches in the near future. Many stars are said to be looking into the idea of bringing out their own digital coins before long.

For the moment, boxer Manny Pacquiao has beaten the rest to the punch. This is because he recently revealed the launch of his new coin. What is it all about and what can his fans expect to do with it?

The Pac Token

Known as the Pac, this celebrity cryptocurrency was unveiled at a free concert in Manila. The idea behind this currency is that it will be used by his fans. They can use the tokens to buy the boxer’s merchandise online. It can also be bought, sold and exchanged.

It is worth remembering that Pacquiao is a huge celebrity in the Philippines. As well as his boxing career, he is also an actor, a singer and a politician. His currency will also allow token-holders to interact with him on social media.

The system for buying merchandise is called Pacpay. The Pac token is believed to be the only way of paying for goods on here. This new token will also be listed on the Singapore’s Global Crypto Offering Exchange (GCOX).

He developed the currency together with the Asia-based GCOX. The firm uses their Acclaim blockchain to produce digital tokens for stars.

They are said to be experts in producing celebrity cryptocurrencies. So, we can expect to hear a lot more about them in the future.

What Other Celebrity Cryptocurrency News Can We Expect?

It seems likely that we see a few more currencies of this type soon. What celebrities are known to be planning their own cryptocurrency launches?

Names to have been mentioned include singer Jason Derulo and tennis star Caroline Wozniack. They are both believed to be working with GCOX to bring out coins using the same model.

In the past, a number of famous faces have shown a lot of interest in buying Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. They include the likes of Manny’s old boxing foe, Floyd Mayweather, Ashton Kutcher, Jamie Foxx and Mel B. Others, like Lionel Messi, have endorsed blockchain services.

It would be no surprise to see these and other stars bring out their own currencies soon. How this will affect the price of bitcoin and other coins is yet to be seen. However, it should certainly ensure that the potential of the blockchain gets more publicity.
