Top Adult Site Now Accepts Verge as Payment

Adult content site Pornhub  is now accepting the Verge cryptocurrency as payment. You now know why the price of the privacy-focussed currency spiked last week. The reason why this is a big deal is the fact that Pornhub is one of the most visited sites on the internet. It ranks 30th according to Alexa, just a few steps behind the likes of Twitch, LinkedIn and Netflix.

This is one of those moments where the anonymity feature of cryptocurrencies like Verge fit in very well with the needs of porn consumers who in most cases desire some privacy.

Pornhub is well aware of the volatility in the market. For now it will accept Verge for purchase of its premium package, HD, merchandising and on-demand services. Recurring subscriptions are not covered for now.

Verge Down 34%

While the news would ordinarily be expected to see a surge in the value of Verge, the cryptocurrency is down 34%, a day after the news was announced. Nevertheless, as this is a fairly solid use case scenario we can expect the price of Verge to gradually rise in the foreseeable future if indeed users utilise it on the site. Ideally, this would be the case unless of course there is a major disruption; like a ban of cryptocurrencies or porn.

Brazzers and Nataku, both affiliated with Pornhub will also be accepting Verge payments.

“Here at Pornhub, we have always strongly valued innovation and privacy. Over the past couple of years we’ve launched Virtual Reality (VR), to provide our users with the most immersive experience possible; a Bug Bounty program, which offers monetary rewards to security researchers for finding bugs on our platform; and HTTPS, to provide a more secure user experience. Our acceptance of Verge is an affirmation of our dedication to innovation and privacy, which recently has caused much concern and been at the forefront of all tech consumers’ minds,” VP Carey Price  said in a press release.

“We are extremely excited to offer our fans the ability to use crypto and think Verge, with its focus on anonymity, is the best option – whether for privacy, convenience or both!” Price said the decision to accept Verge partly stemmed from demands from customers. More cryptocurrencies may however be added in the future, she said.

Privacy Focussed Coin

Verge is an anonymity focussed website which uses Tor and I2P networks to achieve full anonymity.

“Pornhub is a global organization with nearly a hundred million daily users,” said Verge founder Justin Sunerok.

“This partnership represents an enormous market with a global reach that will compete with fiat currencies. It’s huge for Verge and we’re extremely excited to finally be able to announce it.” Verge said in a statement.

Verge has generally been defying the general downward trend in the market gaining about 160% on the last one month. A unit is now trading for $0.070 according to CoinMarketCap.
